Enough updates. Let’s ship some locks.
Hey backers,
Yup, it took longer again, but we focused on the essentials:
Getting the locks out the door, production servers, apps ready for the App Store, and everything else needed for the lock to work.
About that app…
Apple has rejected it four times, each time for a small privacy issue. Let’s hope this was the last one and it lands in the App Store this coming week.
You’ve heard it all before, so we’re not going to tire you with more excuses.
The survey
It’s finished and submitted to BackerKit, who need two days to review it before we can send it out.
(Didn’t know that either. 😂)
We already asked our Indiegogo backers the same questions today:
Steel, Black, Copper — or “just send me a damn lock in any color.”
And whether you want your lock ASAP or prefer to wait until September/October for the next, ART2-approved batch.
All locks are Danish Varefakta approved.
What about buying more locks?
We figured we probably need to show you some proof of action before we ask you to send us more money.
Once our webshop launches, for a limited time, you can buy additional Ring-Locks and Ring-Lock Go at the original backer price.
First locks are going out in the coming week.

My beloved backers,
Have you ever carried a bicycle chain in your backpack?
It’s heavy.
It’s dirty.
And after about five minutes, you start wondering why a bike lock needs to weigh as much as a six-pack.
Well…
We’ve got something to show you.
But first…
The surveys.
No, they didn’t get lost.
We’re behind. 😢
I promised you transparency.
So here’s the truth.
The last month I’ve spent most of my time dealing with investors and fundraising.
It’s a horrible stage to be in.
We’re getting ready to launch.
But we haven’t closed the funding needed to hire the people who should be doing half the jobs I’m still doing myself.
One hour I’m answering support messages from backers.
The next I’m in a meeting with Apple.
Then I’m talking to angel investors.
Investors exercising their right to be spectacularly annoying
None mentioned.
None forgotten. 😂
Lately it has felt more like being on a dating app than dealing with investors.
That’s honestly where most of my time has gone.
The good news?
Progress hasn’t stopped.
I’ve spent the last two weeks in China making sure everything is ready.
The production setup is in place. The team knows exactly what to do.
Tin has done a fantastic job keeping everything moving here, and I’m leaving China confident the factory has everything they need to finish production.
At the same time we’ve been putting the finishing touches on the app and everything else that has to work before we start shipping.
We’ll finally start sending out the BackerKit surveys.
BackerKit starts by sending them to a small group first before rolling them out to everyone else.
Much better to fix one mistake for 50 people than for 2,000. 😂
Now…
Back to the chain, or the lock.
Most of you know the Ring-Lock as a bicycle lock.
But that’s never been the whole story.
Take away the mounting brackets…
…and suddenly the same Ring-Lock becomes something else entirely.
Lock your bike to a bike rack.
Lock your stroller outside the café.
Lock your scooter while you grab a coffee.
One Ring-Lock.
Endless possibilities.
When your survey arrives, you’ll have one final opportunity to add extra Ring-Locks to your order at your original Kickstarter price.
And this time…
You have even more reasons to own one.
For your stroller.
For your mother-in-law,
as a Christmas gift.
Once the surveys close, so does the backer pricing.
This is the moment.
Thank you for not having any other option than sticking with us. 😂

Hey backers,
Let’s jump straight in.
Timeline
Next week
The long-awaited survey goes out. We’ll confirm addresses, colors, and ask how many more Apple Find My , insurance-approved locks you’d like to buy at backer pricing before we launch to the public. We’ll also make sure you have the accessories needed to mount your lock.🔥
Week after
The LAAS app is published on the App Store and Google Play.
Mid-July
Shipping starts.
We do need a little time to assemble the locks…
Thank You to the First 100 Backers
Let’s all thank the roughly 100 backers who took the punches of being first.
They experienced rubber handles falling off, springs coming loose, lock alignment issues, and a few account mix-ups.
Nothing catastrophic, but definitely the kind of things that are better discovered by 100 people than by 2,000.
They also taught us that close to 100% of people are like me: skip the app introduction and ask questions later. 😂
The feedback has been incredibly valuable, both for the product and the user instructions.
There is a great vibe in our WhatsApp group, and it’s energising to finally see real people using the lock on real bikes. There are already quite a few bikes that have found their way back to their owners.
People are unlocking, lending and finding bikes exactly the way we hoped they would!
Our engineers have spent the last weeks fixing issues, improving the experience, and making sure we ship the best version possible.
I’m heading to China next week to see the production ramp-up.
Launch Mode
We’re now busy preparing the launch.
Website updates

Can You Help?
We need 3–5 LAAS Ambassadors in Copenhagen.
Full-time, part-time, student, retired — we don’t really care, what matters is the right vibe.
You will get to know LAAS inside out, help customers, support retailers, Host demo events, and sell like crazy where ever there is bicycles available.
We’re also looking for:
Content and advertising agencies (preferably Copenhagen-based)
Distribution contacts
Press contacts
Investor introductions, our current round is likely already filled, but if you’re interested, feel free to reach out.
Let’s get these locks shipped.

Hey backers,
After a long, hard struggle and God knows how many times I’ve written “tracking certification almost done”, it is finally time to relax for a day and celebrate that
LAAS Ring-Lock is the world’s first Apple Find My integrated bike lock!
We are finally allowed to kick off mass production.
We will work out the fulfillment timeline and send out the long-awaited survey shortly.
Honestly, thank you to all of you who somehow survived all these years of delays, certification madness, and updates saying “almost done” 😅
Come by for a very improvised celebration and wine at Sankt Hans Gade 24 tonight at 18:00.

Hey backers,
Quick status:
First of all: yes, we know it’s spring. Yes, we know many of you expected to have your locks mounted on your bikes by now. So did we.
The good news is that real locks are out there now, and we’re continuing to improve things based on feedback instead of just lab testing and assumptions.
Instructions has, to say it mildly, been lacking. Some of you have literally been chasing me directly for app downloads because our website is so outdated it’s painful to look at.
We are on it!
Until then: if you already received a lock, please join the early backer WhatsApp support group below.
This will allow me to support people directly and receive feedback as fast as possible. I will personally be active there helping with everything.
WhatsApp support group:
https://chat.whatsapp.com/BvyGsahxCit0PRvX1OrN77?mode=gi_t
Latest app downloads will always be available in the group description.
One more thing for Android users:
We identified a problem with access sharing:
Please delete the app and install the latest Android version from the link below instead.
https://github.com/Laas-Copenhagen/public/raw/refs/heads/main/Android/LAAS-v0.9.2(3).apk
We should hopefully be weeks away from final certification now, so hang in there.
This is getting fun now. It’s incredibly rewarding finally seeing more and more of you using the locks daily after all this time.
Thank you for sticking with us.
